Kids Dance Steps

When I was little I thought someday I would not be afraid. I would try new things with great anticipation and bravery. I would not be afraid of bad dreams, critical words or losing treasured belongings. Then I would be grown-up. What a sad day when I realized that I was grown-up and I was still scared. (Maybe even more!) The more I choose to think, feel and plan big things for my life, the more fear is my constant companion. What to do? Here are a three steps that have helped me face my fear.

Understand it.

The root of all fear is the fear that we cannot handle what happens to us. “If I am rejected I will just fall apart!” “If I fail I will never do anything again.” The truth is that when we look back at our lives bad things have already happened! We have been rejected, failed and have experienced loss but we have dealt with it and survived. It is the anticipation of what might happen that stops us not the actual negative event! I love this quote by Mark Twain,“I have lived a long life and had many troubles, most of which never happened.”

Expect it.

It is easy to begin avoiding fear by living small, never taking risk, and refusing to dream. What a boring life! Deep inside we all know that we can be and create so much more. When we choose to take the risk of dreaming big and creating amazing lives we will feel fear! The first time I taught a workshop I was shaking scared. By the second class I could breath and pass out handouts with out dropping them from my still-shaking hands. By the third class I was beginning to enjoy leading it. That is the story of fear. When we try something new we will be afraid! Expect it, take fear by the hand and say, “Come on let's go do something new!”.

And whether you like to kick up your heals to hip hop, classical or country, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) says that dancing can: Lower your risk of coronary heart disease Decrease blood pressure Help you manage your weight Strengthen the bones of your legs and hips

Dancing is a unique form of exercise because it provides the heart-healthy benefits of an aerobic exercise while also allowing you to engage in a social activity. This is especially stimulating to the mind, and one 21-year study published in the New England Journal of Medicine even found dancing can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia in the elderly.

In the study, participants over the age of 75 who engaged in reading, dancing and playing musical instruments and board games once a week had a 7 percent lower risk of dementia compared to those who did not. Those who engaged in these activities at least 11 days a month had a 63 percent lower risk!

Kids Salsa Dance

The word “salsa” in Spanish means sauce. Salsa dancing is also known as slot dancing because couples don’t move around a large area of the dance floor; instead they stay in a more fixed or smaller area of the floor. So are you ready to learn Salsa dancing?

The salsa has an eight beat pattern that is made up of two bars of four beats. The Salsa music is usually complicated and fast with around 180 beats per minute. The salsa pattern is generally one of three steps and then a skipped step or a tap on the fourth beat.

The basic step is as follows: On counts 1, 2, and 3 the leader steps forward, then you replace the weight to your previous support foot keeping it in place, and then step backward. On counts 5, 6, and 7 you step backwards, then you replace the weight to your previous support foot keeping it in place, and then step forward again.

The follower does exactly the same steps but in the reverse order. The basic step is the basis for many of the other salsa patterns.

Some of the breaks to the basic step are:

1. Side Break – You start from either foot and step sideways; then you replace the weight to your previous support foot, keeping it in place.

2. Back Break - You start from either foot and step backwards; then you replace the weight to your previous support foot, keeping it in place.

3. Forward Break - You start from either foot and step forward; then you replace the weight to your previous support foot, keeping it in place.

Kids Jazz Dance

Jazz wear has begun to take on a “less is more” type of trend. Full-length jazz pants and even capri pants are not as “in” as they used to be. “Booty shorts”, or “hot pants” as some may call them, are taking over in the world of jazz. It only makes sense to wear less clothing while dancing and getting sweaty. Dancers everywhere are wearing these short, tight shorts and pairing them with tops that are just as fitted.

Halter Tops

Halter tops have become very big in jazz wear. They are cute and stylish and also very good for bustline support. To make these tops even more stylish, rouching has become very popular on dance tops. All of the rouching and halter tops are beginning to make jazz wear look more like normal, everyday clothing. This season, the popular color for tops is blue. It is a beautiful color that everyone can pull off and will be seen more in the dance studios this fall.

Crystals

Crystals are also a very big trend right now in jazz wear. There may be a few crystals spread out across a top or made to spell out dance. Crystals have even been done across the back of shorts or pants to spell out dance or other catchy, dance related words. Even “booty shorts” are being detailed with crystals along the sides or across the top.

Kids Ballet Dance

Ballet dance is a type of theatrical dance which was originated in France and slowly spread to England, Italy and Russia. It requires high level of practise to be able to perform this highly skilled form of dance, along with concentration. It requires the dancer to have qualities like strength, elegance, grace, patience and most importantly the passion.

Ballet dance is differentiated from other forms of dance by its precise movements and formal gestures and poses. This form of dance is either done in a group or as a solo presentation depending on the requirement of the story or theme. A musical composition accompanies ballet along with attractive costumes and other background effects to enhance the effect of the performance.

Ballet was introduced in the 18th century and became at par with opera during those times. The movements in this dance form were used to express emotions and to support narration. Gradually ballets started to be story based and even romantic in nature. While women were only given a secondary role in the initial days, women became the central figure in the later years. This main lady ballet dancer is called a ballerina. Though the term ballerina is used to refer any ballet dancer, it is actually the prestigious rank given to the best and exceptional dancer. Ballerino is the term used for the main Ballet dancer.

Kids Latin Dance

Although there are many different types of dance that are popular with individuals that would like to take dancing lessons, Latin dancing is one of the most popular styles requested by individuals seeking professional lessons. Latin dancing is viewed as an energetic, sensual type of dance and is one of the most difficult types of dances to learn properly. Individuals that are interested in learning Latin dancing methods should obtain the assistance of a qualified professional dance instructor for their teaching to ensure that they are learning the dance steps properly and do not harm themselves during the process.

Latin dancing is typically faster paced than traditional ballroom dances and the steps for the dances tend to be more intricate. Individuals that choose to learn this type of dancing soon find that some of the moves can be physically challenging and requires the individual to exert a moderate amount of energy to perform. Latin dancing lessons provide the individual with a great cardiovascular workout while teaching the individual stamina and coordination as well.

There are several different types of Latin dancing that are commonly requested by individuals interested in taking lessons with a professional dance instructor. These dances include the Salsa, the Cha Cha, the Mambo, the Rumba, and the Tango. Each of these dances has different steps and rhythms associated with them, although the general pace of the dances remains the same. Most professional dance instructors know how to perform several of these dances.

One of the main reasons people quit an exercise program is a lack of motivation and goal setting. You may start an exercise program in hopes of losing weight and becoming more fit. However, as you continue exercising, you may feel that you're putting in so much effort but gaining so little. You become unmotivated because it's just too much work.

With Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), kids, teens, and adults can find a way to stay motivated, exercise, and have more fun. Dance Dance Revolution is a music game available on both console and arcade. You can choose from a variety of energetic dance songs. As the song plays, you have to step on a specific pattern of arrows in response to the song's beat.

Like most games, learning Dance Dance Revolution takes practice. There is a range of tempos, song genres, and step difficulties, so there is something for everyone. Beginners can start with easy slow-paced songs. To get better, simply practice and become familiar with the songs. As you progress you can gradually choose faster songs and more difficult step patterns. With enough practice and persistence you'll gain stamina, become better at foot-eye coordination, and have a better sense of rhythm.

Kids Dance School

it is the lifeblood of the entertainment aspect of having fun and the one that makes it fun is the one playing the music. There have been setting before where a teacher, parent or student has taken the reigns of the music department and played the night away. In other cases, there have been situations where music will be provided by way of a tape of CD continuously playing over and over.

All these options are acceptable, no doubt, however, to truly get the excitement to need for your school party, the only way to go is to hire a DJ to jump start your school dance and make it was it was intended to be, FUN! Now, once you have decided to go with a DJ for your school dance, the decisions that have to be made are ones that involve price, depending on how the payments will be made. With a school board, there are many hands that are involved when paying a bill regarding a school event or cost, so keeping that into account is important. A second point to keep in mind when choosing a DJ for your school dance is to see how up to date his/her equipment is and how up to speed their collection on music is. In today's society, the access to obtaining music files is as easy as downloading images from the World Wide Web, thanks to free websites that have compressed music into mp3s.

A final decision when choosing a DJ for your school dance is the image that the DJ brings to the table. Some DJs, be it a man or woman, present themselves as either very professional or not. It is in your best interest to hire a DJ that represents your school and image the best way that you want, not vice-versa.

February is the month of love. It even includes an entire day that is set aside simply for the purpose of making grand gestures of romance and love. Valentine’s Day has been around for centuries.

One story of the origin of Valentine’s Day dates back to the 3rd century AD. Father Valentine, a Roman priest, defied what he believed was an unjust law of his day that forbade marriage and secretly married young lovers. For this he was sentenced to death, was martyred two centuries later and became one of the most popular saints of France and Italy.

LOVE

This thing called love receives more and more notice in most every area of life. Spiritual traditions have long claimed love to be at the core of healing and happiness. Philosophers have written of three types of love called eros, agape and philia. Medical research has produced scientific findings that love improves our health – it changes us on a cellular level, enhances our immune and cardiovascular systems, and increases our endorphins. A recent Oprah show highlighted a group of middle aged women who attributed their vitality and success to doing what they love. And the Law of Attraction that is rapidly gaining attention identifies love as a high energy emotion that transforms not only the “lover” but those near and far. As well it has the greatest attraction power of any energy.

ROMANCE

Since this is February want to talk about the love celebrated in February, love that is distinguished by the “Big R word” - Romance. As I write this that I don’t hear or read very much anymore about romance, except for a week or two around Valentine’s Day. I think something is amiss. Who doesn’t, if you are truly honest with yourself, desire more romance in life?

Did you know that ordinary concrete won’t do for dancing, and that dancing floors have to be refurbished every few years? Indeed, we often take for granted the floors we step on, simply because we know only a little about how important flooring is.

In general, flooring is a term for the covering of a floor. It is often used interchangeably with “parquetry,” which actually describes a mosaic of slats of wood, fashioned into different shapes, and used to decorate floors. Parquetry involves the use of different kinds of wood, which can include the following.

• Dark woods, such as cherry, give not only a mystique to floors, but can even prevent mild scratches from being seen. Once deeply scratched, however, dark woods are difficult to repair.

• Light woods, such as maple or oak, make rooms appear light and wide.

• Tropical woods, such as mahogany, make floors appear rich and colorful, but are often expensive.

There are three main types of parquetry. Solid parquet will use slats of solid wood, and will involve much skilful carving and shaping of whole wood pieces. Veneers involve the use of solid wood only as an upper layer of parquet pieces; a piece of plywood, or other kinds of cheaper wood, will support the solid surface. The cheapest kinds of parquet are the laminates, which involve no real expensive wood. Laminates will usually have a faux-wood slat on top of a cheap wood base. This faux-wood is fashioned to be alike in grain and color to commonly used parquet wood types.

Kids Dancing

Kids can learn a variety of skills through dancing so it is something you should consider for them. This can be dancing at home as a family activity or involved with various dance programs where they will perform in recitals. Children need to get plenty of exercise for their young bodies to grow like they should. Dancing is a great way for them to burn energy and to get healthy. It uses a variety of muscle groups so they can make them stronger as well.

Dancing can also help children to become more coordinated. That is a skill that will help them in many things. Playing sports and even riding a bike require balance and coordination. You will see improvements in such skills when they are part of dancing. They will also have better listening skills as they will be paying attention to the music and to the instructor if they are in dance classes.

Memories of kids improve through dancing as well because they have to remember the next steps. Kids have the ability to remember much more than we give them credit for so even very young kids can benefit from learning simple dance routine. They will want to practice it for you at home plenty too which means that they will be ready for the next dance class.

It is a good idea for your child to be in a dance recital as that will help them to avoid anxiety being in front of a group. As your child gets older they will have to do so with various school projects. There are even many adults out there that aren’t comfortable talking in front of a group. This is one skill you will want your child to have as there are so many elements of life that they can carry it over into.

Kids dance lessons

The cello is both fascinating and intimidating. It’s bigger than a violin and the sound it produces is lower. For children however, their fascination with any musical instrument begins with sight. I remember years ago when as a child I saw a concert where a cello solo was featured. The sounds the cello made were deep and melodious. But that wasn’t the first thing I noticed. I recall thinking how gigantic the cello looked compared to the teeny tiny violin. I also remember thinking how much “stronger” it looked versus the violin. These first few observations sparked in me my interest and desire to learn more about the cello.

As a parent I have tried sparking the same interest in my children and students. Over the years I have noticed that children are easily entranced by anything that makes a sound or looks new to them. To children, the cello probably looks like an oversized guitar played vertically. Fascination starts when they see how the bow is needed in order to produce sound. Once interest is cultivated in a child, it is easier to start teaching since the instrument can now hold the child’s attention.

Just like the violin, good posture is needed when playing the cello. It is easier to teach beginners and young children correct posture and positioning as they have not yet picked up bad habits which can be very hard to break when it has set in. Note reading and correct finger positions in the fingerboards are also cultivated in order to produce the correct sound. There are also bowing techniques which will have to be mastered in order to learn how to play the cello properly.

Young children have minds like sponges. It is very easy to fill up this sponge with knowledge. What is most difficult in children is holding their interest. This is why cello lessons for kids have to be fun and fascinating. A child who does not have fun while learning the cello is a difficult student to teach.

The easiest way to determine if your child is interested in learning the cello is to talk to him or her directly. Make him understand that cello lessons need commitment and that he will have to practice daily in order to become a good cello player. There is also no exact age on when to start cello or music lessons for your child. So observe your child. If you feel that she is ready then have the talk.

Once your child has committed to learning the cello or any other musical instrument make sure that he will have your support. Children get discouraged too and will need you to cheer them on from time to time. Make sure that they get all the support and praise they need as this will help them persevere and improve.

Finally, never force your child to learn the cello or any other instrument. Your child has to find joy in learning the cello. It should be enjoyable and fun. Music should never be a chore or something that he has to do in order to please the parents. The joy in
